[ARCHIVED] Dog Park Fundraiser!

Brevard Dog Park Logo

Welcome to the Brevard Dog Park! We are a public private partnership, seeking to design, fund and develop a 2.7 acre site near the City of Brevard Sport Complex along Ecusta Road.  A group of volunteers along with city staff and officials have formed a task force and are currently working to realize this public amenity. The park will feature two fenced-in areas, size segregated to accommodate large and small dogs.  Located a short distance from nearby trails and parking, dogs will be able to run off leash over grassy fields spotted with shade trees.  Project planning commenced in the summer of 2020 after HCA Healthcare (Hospital Corporation of America) donated the land to the city.

A dog park has been the subject of a citizen-led advocacy group since 2014 with $3,700 collected in donation boxes in the intervening years.  This project has consistently ranked high for desired public amenities by City of Brevard residents over the past six years and was in fact the second-highest project to be commented on  during a city-sponsored public project charette in 2018. Following HCA’s donation of the land the city has formed a Dog Park Citizen Task Force made up of 19 volunteers.  These volunteers are working in five separate committees; design, rules and procedures, fundraising, communications and budget. Volunteers range in age from 23 to 70+ and include three city staffers and three city council members.

The Task Force recently completed the design for the park which can be viewed at the link below.  Site preparation is currently being done by City of Brevard Public Works Department. Current progress includes clearing the site of brush and excess trees as well as installing drainage systems.  Public Works is also working to bring water and electricity to the site.

This project will be supported by a combination of public funds from the City of Brevard, private contributions and in-house labor thanks to the Public Works Department. The City has committed $75,000 to the project and plans to begin Phase 1 installation in the fall of 2020.  An additional $40,000 is needed to complete the project. The Task Force is soliciting private contributions for this amount.

The City of Brevard is currently working to raise funds for this project. You can help build the Brevard Dog Park by making a general donation or purchasing an engraved brick for $100.00.  The bricks will be installed at the entrance to the dog park.  The links below list the details for purchasing your personal brick or making a general donation.

Thank you for making this possible!
