Work Zone Safety

A work zone is a designated area on a street or highway where construction is performed. You will notice distinctive orange and black signs providing warnings such as "Begin Work Zone" or "Flagger Ahead." Here is what you can do to ensure safety:

  • Be patient
  • Be prepared to stop
  • Don't speed
  • Don't tailgate
  • Expect delays
  • Follow directions of flaggers
  • Keep up with traffic flow
  • Stay alert

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there are an average of 25 people (our friends, co-workers, family members) who die each year in North Carolina alone. Do your part to help protect those working in work zones along our streets and highways.

Safety is everyone's responsibility!
