Floodplain Development Permit
You must obtain a floodplain development permit from the City of Brevard Planning & Zoning Department prior to performing grading or construction (either building or hydraulic work) on lands located in the City's flood hazard area. The requirements for the submittals for this permit are included in Chapter 34 of the Brevard Code of Ordinances.
It is best practice to not build or grade within 10 feet from property lines so you don't alter the drainage between homes.
Use only licensed contractors who know the local floodplain development rules.
Current Flood Elevation Certificate [FEMA Form 81-31, Mar 09]
When a flood elevation certificate is required for a City of Brevard flood permit, the latest version of the certificate is required.
